Batman: Caped Crusader Lands a Two-Season Order at Amazon

Abstract dark sci-fi fallback story image for J.J. Abrams Fans with a glowing mystery box, classic question marks, and cinematic blue lens flare

Batman: Caped Crusader got a two-season order at Amazon in March 2023 after being dropped by HBO Max during Warner Bros. Discovery’s cost-cutting shakeup. Deadline reported that the series, executive produced by J.J. Abrams, Matt Reeves, and Bruce Timm, moved quickly to a new home instead of dying in development.

That was the encouraging part of the story. The project took a public hit when HBO Max cut it loose, then immediately proved valuable enough for Amazon to pick it up with a bigger commitment than a simple one-season rescue.

It is also a useful reminder that Bad Robot’s story is not limited to Abrams’ directed films and co-created live-action shows. When a Bad Robot project survives a major platform shakeup and keeps moving, that is worth tracking too.
