Duster finally has a full trailer, and it looks like exactly the kind of dusty, fast, dangerous ride its premise promised.
Max dropped the official trailer for J.J. Abrams and LaToya Morgan’s crime drama ahead of the show’s May 15 premiere, and the footage leans hard into the series’ swagger. Josh Holloway plays the getaway driver caught in the orbit of a growing crime syndicate, while Rachel Hilson plays the young FBI agent determined to bring that world down. Throw Keith David into the middle of it all and you have a pretty terrific setup already.
The official logline describes the show as a 1970s Southwest story about a gutsy driver and a tenacious agent taking on a notorious crime syndicate. The trailer makes it look even rowdier than that. There are muscle cars, gunfire, near misses, dry humor, and a lot of attitude. It does not look like Abrams is trying to hide the fun here. Duster seems determined to move.
That is probably a smart play. One of the most immediately appealing things about the show is how specific it feels. Between the period setting, the desert-road energy, and Holloway’s naturally easy screen presence, this does not look like a generic crime series with an Abrams name on it. It looks like a show with its own voice.
The first two episodes were written by Abrams and Morgan, with Steph Green directing those opening hours. The cast also includes Sydney Elisabeth, Greg Grunberg, Camille Guaty, Asivak Koostachin, Adriana Aluna Martinez, and Benjamin Charles Watson. The eight-episode season premieres on Max on May 15, with episodes rolling out weekly through July 3.
If you want to keep track of the show as it rolls out, we already have a Duster series page, a full Episode Guide, and a growing Music page on the site.
